Description & Operation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1991 Mercury Sable and 1991 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Power windows are operated by reversible type motors mounted with each individual window regulator. Each window has an individual switch for separate control. A master control switch is located on left front door or center console, and all windows may be controlled from this switch. Master switch is powered by a power window safety relay, located behind top RH side of instrument panel

A lock-out switch is incorporated in master switch. When actuated, it prevents window operation from individual switches. A relay prevents window operation unless ignition switch is in ON or ACC position.
