Gasoline - 6.4L

This procedure is required when one or more of the following situations are true:

This procedure assumes that the scan tool is properly configured to the dealership network with either a wired or wireless connection. For help on how to network the scan tool, use the "Help" tab at the top of the diagnostic application.

Programming Procedure 

- Using the scan tool:

  1. Verify that the scan tool operating software is programmed with the latest software release.
  2. Flash the Powertrain Control Module (PCM)
  3. From the "Home" screen, select "ECU View"
  4. Select "PCM"
  5. Select "Misc functions"
  6. Verify that the scan tool operating software is programmed with the latest software release.
  7. Select "Check PCM VIN" and follow the on screen instructions. When complete, select "Finish".
  8. Select "Learn ETC" and follow the on screen instructions. When complete, select "Finish".
  9. Select "Check PCM Odometer" and follow the on screen instructions. When complete, select "Finish".
  10. If available (sales code XCL), select "Engine Idle Feature Enable/Disable" and set to vehicle operators preference.
  11. If available (sales code XCL), select "Engine Idle Shutdown Timer Adjustment" and set to the vehicle operators preference.
  12. Perform the following routine if a new PCM/ECM has been installed and module flash programming is complete. 

    Select the appropriate "MAX VEHICLE SPEED" routine. Refer to the following sale code table to select the proper speed:

    SALES CODE VALUE
    JJ3 60 MPH MAX SPEED
    JJ4 65 MPH MAX SPEED
    JJ5 70 MPH MAX SPEED
    JJ7 102 MPH MAX SPEED
    JJ9 77 MPH MAX SPEED
NOTE:

Due to the PCM/TCM programming procedure, a DTC may be set in other ECUs within the vehicle. Some DTCs may cause the MIL to illuminate. From the "Home" screen select "System View". Then select "All DTCs". Press "Clear All Stored DTCs" if there are any DTCs shown on the list.
