Shift Control Lever: Installation
- Install shift control assembly in floor panel with bolts. See Figure . Install detent spring into shift control lever. See Figure .
- Install shift control lever by pressing lock release button while pivoting bottom of shift control lever toward rear of vehicle. See Figure .
- Tilt shift control lever to left and install detent ball. See Figure . Install bolt into bottom of shift control lever. See Figure .
- Insert shift control cable adjuster pinch bolt into shift control assembly and slide shift control cable into shift control cable adjuster. See Figure .
- Attach shift control cable mounting bracket to shift control assembly with nuts. Tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install nut on shift control cable adjuster pinch bolt. See Figure . Tighten nut to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install shift control lever switch on shift control assembly. See Fig 1 .
- Install floor console, shift control panel and right/left front lower trim panels.
- Connect negative battery cable.
CAUTION:
Make sure slot in shift control lever switch is all the way forward and shift control lever is in "P" position. Failure to do so may damage shift control lever switch and produce a false gear indication.
