Section 2 (Charging System - Generators & Regulators): Description
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1998 Plymouth Breeze, 1998 Dodge Stratus, and 1998 Chrysler Cirrus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Vehicles use either a Melco or Nippondenso generator. The generator contains a rotor, stator, rectifiers, front and rear covers and drive pulley. Generator is serviced as a complete unit only. Voltage regulation is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Electronic Voltage Regulator (EVR) is not a separate component, but a circuit located within the PCM. If EVR circuit is defective, PCM must be replaced.
