Test Ch-VER, Charging Verification

  1. Inspect and ensure that all engine components are connected. If PCM has been changed and if vehicle is equipped with a factory theft alarm, start vehicle at least 20 times so alarm will activate as designed. If vehicle is a minivan or truck, write the EMR mileage into NEW PCM.
  2. Connect DRB-II to engine diagnostic connector and erase all faults. Ensure no other charging system problems remain by doing the following:
    • Start engine.
    • Raise engine speed to 2000 RPM (1600 RPM for diesel) for at least 30 seconds.
    • Allow engine to idle.
    • Turn engine off.
    • Turn ignition on.
    • With DRB-II, read fault messages.
  3. If previously repaired fault has reset, repair is incomplete. Check all related TECH SERVICE BULLETINS and return to TEST CH-1, BATTERY TEST if necessary. If there are no other faults, repair is complete.
