G Sensor Test

  1. Turn ignition on. With G sensor connected to wiring harness, connect a voltmeter between Red wire of G sensor and ground. If 7-7.5 volts are indicated, system is okay. If zero volts are indicated, check wiring harness for open circuit. If any other reading is obtained, faulty control unit is indicated.
  2. Connect a voltmeter between Green wire of G Sensor and ground. When sensor is level, voltage should be 1.1-1.5 volts. Slowly turn sensor so that emblem faces up. Voltage should be 4.6-5.0 volts. If sensor voltage is not to specification, replace G sensor.
  3. Ensure vehicle is on a level surface. Using a level, check levelness of sensor vertically and horizontally. Sensor must be within one degree. If sensor varies more than one degree, use shims to adjust within tolerance.
