Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2015 GMC Yukon XL, 2015 GMC Yukon, 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, 2015 Chevrolet Suburban, and 2015 Cadillac Escalade ESV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Inspect the brake pads for wear and/or damage. Refer to Brake Pad Inspection .
  2. Inspect the brake caliper guide pins, seals and brake pad springs for damage and/or corrosion. Refer to Brake Caliper Inspection .
  3. Install the brake caliper.

    CAUTION:

    Refer to Fastener Caution .

    NOTE:

    Do not tear the brake caliper guide pin seal. Damage to the brake caliper guide pin seal may allow corrosion to form on the brake caliper guide pin and the guide pin bores.

  5. Using a backup wrench on the brake caliper guide pin, install the brake caliper guide pin bolts (1) and tighten to 100 N.m (74 lb ft).
  6. Ensure the brake caliper guide pin seals are fully seated in the groove of the brake caliper guide pin and the guide pin slides freely in the brake caliper bracket bore.

  8. Assemble the brake hose fitting bolt (1) and 2 new brake hose fitting gaskets (2) to the brake hose (3) and tighten the fitting bolt to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).
  9. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Pressure)Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding (Manual) .
  10. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation (6-Lug Wheel)
  11. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3 of its travel distance.
  12. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  13. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 9 and 10 until a firm brake pedal apply is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
  14. Fill the brake master cylinder reservoir to the proper level. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling .
