Description & Operation
WARNING:
Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting any repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM in appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article.
Vehicle is not equipped with a Body Control Module (BCM). Scan tool accesses Brake Pressure Control Valve (BPMV), if equipped, Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) for Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). White wire at terminal No. 7 of Data Link Connector (DLC) provides access to BPMV, PCM and SDM. Red wire at terminal No. 16 of DLC provides voltage to scan tool. White/Black wire at terminal No. 4 of DLC and Brown wire at terminal No. 5 of DLC provides ground to scan tool. Data lines monitor module for diagnostic purposes and for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC).
