Universal Asynchronous Receive And Transmit (UART) serial data line circuit and class 2 serial data line circuit are connected to Data Link Connector (DLC). UART serial data line circuit connects Powertrain Control Module (PCM), sensing and diagnostic module and electronic brake control module (if equipped) to terminal No. 9 (Tan wire) at DLC, which allows a scan tool to communicate with these modules for diagnostic and testing purposes. Class 2 serial data line circuit connects PCM to terminal No. 2 (Purple wire) at DLC, which allows a scan tool to communicate with PCM for diagnostic and testing purposes.
