Diagnosis & Testing: INTERMITTENTS
If trouble code previously existed (history code), but is not currently present, fault may be intermittent. Trouble code history can only be obtained using TECH 1. If checking for intermittent fault, perform the following:
- Retrieve and record all trouble codes and trouble code history. Record any descriptive information during system failure.
- Using TECH 1 in MODE F3 (ABS Snapshot), test drive vehicle. Attempt to repeat failure condition. Obtain information when system failure exists.
- After duplicating condition, stop vehicle and access ABS trouble codes.
- If no trouble code is stored, it may be necessary to use CHART A - SERVICE ABS INDICATOR ON WITH NO CODES SET.
Most intermittent problems are caused by faulty electrical connectors or wiring. When intermittent failure exists, check wiring circuits for the following:
- Improper or poor connector or terminal mating
- Improperly formed or damaged terminals
- Poor terminal-to-wire connection
