Preliminary Inspection

Ensure retained accessory power system operates correctly by checking if radio operates after ignition is turned off for 10 minutes or until door is opened. Ensure door locks work from all door lock switches. Ensure theft deterrent arming and disarming functions correctly. See ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS - DEVILLE article. Verify customer complaint by operating system. Visually inspect for obvious signs of mechanical and electrical damage. Inspect door lock system for mechanical binding. Each door lock actuator contains an electronic circuit breaker. Resistance in door lock actuator will increase if door lock actuator is overloaded. Resistance will return to normal after voltage is removed from actuator terminals. Inspect for blown fuses. For fuse and/or relay identification, refer to illustration. See Fig 1 . Inspect for loose or corroded connections, damaged wiring harnesses and/or switches. Check for a broken or partially broken wire inside insulation, which could cause system malfunction but prove good in a continuity/voltage check with system disconnected. Ensure any aftermarket electronic equipment is properly installed. If fault is found, repair as necessary. If no fault is found, perform self diagnostics. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  .
