BCM Status Lights
Upon entering the BCM system level of the self-diagnostic mode, the indicator lights on the ECC of the CCDIC automatically indicate the operational status of the A/C, heating and ventilation system. Modes of operation are indicated by individual status lights being on or off.
NOTE:
Go to STEP 2: TEST TYPE SELECTION if a component or circuit other than the A/C, heating and ventilation system is to be selected for testing.
- OFF Status Indicator Light The OFF indicator is illuminated whenever the BCM is commanding the RECIRC mode valve to the recirculation position. This indicator light is off when the BCM is commanding use of outside air. The light does not indicate that the valve has responded to the BCM's command. Actual operation depends on the integrity of the mode valve system.
- AUTO Indicator Light This indicator illuminates whenever the BCM is requesting the ECM to engage the A/C compressor clutch. This indicator light is not an indication of whether or not the A/C clutch is actually enabled or disabled by the ECM. Actual operation depends on the ECM and the integrity of the compressor clutch system.
- ECON Indicator Light This indicator illuminates whenever the BCM senses the low refrigerant pressure switch is open. The light should remain off if the refrigerant system is fully charged and being properly controlled. If however ambient temperature drops below approximately -5°F (-21°C), the light will come on due to the pressure temperature relationship of refrigerant R-12.
- LO Status Indicator This indicator is illuminated whenever the BCM is commanding the upper mode valve to divert air flow to the A/C outlets. This occurs in the BI-LEVEL or normal purge modes. The indicator light will be off when the ECC system is in the heater intermediate, defrost or cold purge modes.
- HI Status Indicator This indicator is illuminated whenever the BCM is commanding the LOWER mode valve to divert air flow up, away from the heater outlet. This indicator light will be off when the ECC system is in the heater BI-LEVEL, intermediate or normal purge mode.
