Front Wheel Speed Sensor: Installation

  1. If mounting bracket was removed from knuckle, install mounting bracket and bolts. Install bracket bolts finger-tight. Do not tighten at this time.
  2. NOTE: Failure to coat sensor with anti-corrosion compound prior to installation in bracket will result in reduced sensor life.
  3. If sensor was removed from mounting bracket, thoroughly coat sensor with GM Anti-Corrosion Compound (P/N 1052856), or equivalent in all areas where the sensor contacts the mounting bracket. Install sensor in mounting bracket and tighten bolts to 106 INCH lbs. (12 N.m).
  4. NOTE: Proper installation of wheel speed sensor cables is critical to continued system operation. Ensure that cables are installed in retainers. Failure to install cables in retainers may result in contact with moving parts and/or over-extension of cables, resulting in an open circuit.
  5. Route sensor cable and install in retainers. Install wheelhouse pass-through grommet.
  6. If mounting bracket was loosened or removed, adjust front sensor gap.
  7. Lower car.
  8. Connect wheel speed sensor connector under hood.
