Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is a permanent magnet pulse generator that is geared to transmission output to create 32,045 voltage pulses/mile. The VSS informs ECM how fast vehicle is being driven. The ECM uses this signal for logic required to operate fuel economy data panel, integral cruise control, idle speed control system, VCC, and to modify fuel delivery under certain conditions. A speed sensor or circuit which is not functioning properly will set a Code E024.
