Test F: Memory Seat Feature Inoperative
- If power seat diagnostic system check has been performed, go to next step. If power seat diagnostic system check has not been performed, go to POWER SEAT DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Operate memory seat function. If memory seat function operates normally, concern may be intermittent. See PRELIMINARY INSPECTION under TROUBLE SHOOTING. If memory seat function does not operate normally, go to next step.
- Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under left side of instrument panel. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using scan tool, navigate to SETTING OPTIONS by first selecting DASH INTEGRATION MODULE, then SPECIAL FUNCTIONS, then SET OPTIONS, and then PERSONALIZATION OPTION. Follow on screen instructions to verify PERSONALIZATION OPTION is activated. If personalization option is activated, go to next step. If personalization option is not activated, go to PROGRAMMING in BODY CONTROL MODULES - BONNEVILLE & LESABRE article.
- Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Turn headlights On. Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter in Driver Door Module (DDM) data list. Press memory 1 button on Memory/Personalization Function (MPF) switch. If parameter displays MEMORY 1, go to next step. If parameter does not display MEMORY 1, go to step 7 .
- Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter in DDM data list. Press memory 2 button on MPF switch. If parameter displays MEMORY 2, go to next step. If parameter does not display MEMORY 2, go to step 9 .
- Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter in DDM data list. Press EXIT button on MPF switch. If parameter displays EXIT, go to step 14 . If parameter does not display EXIT, go to step 13 .
- Disconnect MPF switch harness connector. Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper wire between ground and MPF switch harness connector terminal No. 1 (White wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter in DDM data list. If parameter displays MEMORY 1, go to next step. If parameter does not display MEMORY 1, go to step 10 .
- Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper wire between MPF switch harness connector terminals No. 1 (White wire) and No. 3 (Black/White wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter in DDM data list. If parameter displays MEMORY 1, go to step 13 . If parameter does not display MEMORY 1, go to step 15 .
- Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper wire between ground and MPF switch harness connector terminal No. 2 (Purple wire). See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Using scan tool, observe MEMORY RECALL SWITCHES parameter in DDM data list. If parameter displays MEMORY 2, go to step 13 . If parameter does not display MEMORY 2, go to step 11 .
- Check for open in memory 1 switch signal circuit (White wire) between MPF switch harness connector terminal No. 1 and driver's door lock switch harness connector terminal No. 3. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 19 . If no problem is found, go to step 12 .
- Check for open in memory 2 switch signal circuit (Purple wire) between MPF switch harness connector terminal No. 2 and driver's door lock switch harness connector terminal No. 2. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 19 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in driver's door lock switch harness connectors. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 19 . If no problem is found, go to step 15 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in MPF switch harness connectors. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 19 . If no problem is found, go to step 16 .
- Check for poor, loose or corroded terminals in MSM harness connectors. If problem is found, repair as necessary and go to step 19 . If no problem is found, go to step 18 .
- Repair open in memory function switch ground circuit (Black/White wire) between MPF switch harness connector No. 3 and DDM harness connector C1 terminal A5. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . After repairs are made, go to step 19 .
- Replace power seat switch. See SEAT SWITCHES under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to step 19 .
- Replace MPF switch. After repairs are made, go to step 19 .
- Replace MSM. See MEMORY SEAT MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. After repairs are made, go to next step.
- Operate system to verify repair. If symptom does not exist, system is okay. If symptom still exists, go to step 2 .
