Steering Play
NOTE:
Two technicians are required for steering gear adjustments. Make adjustments with engine off.
Raise vehicle on lift platform. With wheels in straight-ahead position, have assistant turn steering wheel back and forth about 30° off center axis. Steering gear will produce a rattling noise if steering play is too large. To adjust, tighten adjusting bolt from the left-hand wheelhouse until noise is gone. See Fig 1. While road testing vehicle, be sure that steering returns to straight-ahead position on its own without catching, after vehicle is maneuvered or driven in a curve. Repeat adjustment if necessary.
