Connector Visual Inspection
Test Procedure
- Procedure
-
- Check the connectors for a secure connection or for loose terminals at the following components:
ECT sensor 1
ECT sensor 2
MAF sensor/IAT sensor 1
IAT sensor 2
- Check the connectors for a secure connection or for loose terminals at the following components:
- Normal Conditions
-
- Conditions at the connections and terminals are OK.
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with the connections or terminals.
IAT Sensor 2 Inspection (Low Temperature)
Test Procedure
- Preparation
-
- IAT sensor 2: removed and cooled to the ambient temperature
- Procedure
-
- Note the ambient temperature.
- Connect the IAT sensor 2 2P connector, but do not install IAT sensor 2.
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- Quickly note the HDS [IAT Sensor (2)] value.
- Compare the HDS [IAT Sensor (2)] value to the ambient temperature.
- Normal Conditions
-
- The difference between the HDS [IAT Sensor (2)] value and the ambient temperature is less than 5.4 deg.F (3 deg.C) .
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with IAT sensor 2.
IAT Sensor 2 Inspection (High Temperature)
Test Procedure
- Preparation
-
- IAT sensor 2: removed
- Procedure
-
- Connect the IAT sensor 2 2P connector, but do not install IAT sensor 2.
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- Heat IAT sensor 2 with heat gun for a few seconds.NOTE: Do not apply the heat longer than a few seconds or you will damage the sensor.
- Confirm the HDS [IAT Sensor (2)].
- Normal Conditions
-
- HDS [IAT Sensor (2)] value is more than 76 deg. F (42 deg. C) .
Results
- If it is abnormal, there is a problem with IAT sensor 2.
