Draining & Refilling

NOTE: Keep all foreign particles out of the transaxle.
  1. Bring the transaxle up to operating temperature (the radiator fan comes on) by driving the vehicle.
  2. Park the vehicle on the level ground, and turn the engine off.
  3. NOTE: If a cooler flusher is to be used, see OIL COOLER FLUSHING  .
  4. Remove the ATF filler bolt and drain plug, and drain. See Fig 1 .
  5. Reinstall the drain plug with a new sealing washer. Tighten drain plug to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  6. Refill the transaxle with the recommended fluid into the filler hole "A" to the upper mark on the dipstick. See CHECKING FLUID LEVELS  .
  7. Install the ATF filler bolt "B" with a new sealing washer "C". See Figure .
  8. Tighten filler bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
