Clutch Master Cylinder Replacement

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: Do not spill brake fluid on the vehicle; it may damage the paint; if brake fluid does contact the paint, wash it off immediately with water.
  1. Remove the intake duct .
  2. Remove the brake fluid from the clutch master cylinder reservoir with a syringe.
  3. Disconnect the clutch pipe (A) from the clutch damper (B). Plug the end of the clutch pipe with a shop towel to prevent brake flluid from coming out.

  4. Pry out the lock pin (A), and pull the pedal pin (B) out of the yoke. Remove the master cylinder mounting nuts (C).

  5. Remove the clutch master cylinder (A).

  6. Remove the clutch master cylinder seal (B) from the clutch master cylinder.
  7. Disconnect the reservoir hose (A), then remove the retaining clip (B) and remove clutch pipe (C) from the clutch master cylinder (D). Plug the end of the reservoir hose and clutch pipe with a shop towel to prevent brake fluid from coming out.

  8. Remove the O-ring (E) from the clutch master cylinder.
  9. Install the clutch master cylinder in the reverse order of removal. Install a new O-ring. Tighten the master cylinder mounting nuts to 13 N.m (1.3 kgf.m, 9.4 lbf.ft).
  10. Make sure the hose clamps (A) are positioned on the master cylinder (B) and reservoir (C) as shown.

  11. To prevent the retaining clip (A) from coming off, pry to open the tip of the retaining clip (B) with a screwdriver.

  12. Bleed the clutch master hydraulic system (see SLAVE CYLINDER REPLACEMENT , step 7).
    NOTE: The reservoir filling is covered in the bleeding procedure.
